It’s Alive!
I did it! I not only designed, but also developed the ironetic site using some of my tried and true development techniques. And I got to stretch my design legs!
The design came to me because Ron loves comics! And I love Ron, so I knew the site design needed to have comics as an inspiration. AI art was/is new to me, so I started playing around with it to quickly get my ideas out onto the virtual page. Using Adobe XD for the layout, I wanted the homepage to have the comic feel of some of the classic comics that Ron holds so dear.
I featured a fashionable woman character talking to another woman about something simple yet having a deeper meaning. I was also inspired by the illustrations of the 1950’s classic style of advertisement and romance comics, but I give it a modern twist by mashing the old and the new via the computers and cellphones throughout the site. I wanted to capture the innocence of the 1950’s “housewife” but put modern tools in her hands. Maybe she is not-so-secretly a developer, or housewife or mother like me? Maybe she is secretly a superhero? Maybe she is the mastermind behind it all?

I wanted the site to have romance and heart! And overuse exclamation points!! Yet have a softness, hence the non-clinical background color of old comic paper. Can you smell the nostalgia of your childhood?
Development with Greensock Animations
Falling back into my comfort zone of development, I added some animation and pop to the homepage with Greensock animations. Ron saw some of the work I did for a client with animations and wanted to capture the “animated” comic feel. So I made it pop! Click! Clack!
Having designed hundreds of sites in my career, I have a knack for getting to the core of inspiration and whipping something together. I don’t have to be the best designer but as long as it gives you the feels and makes you smile, I am good!
