In January 2022, Ron Ferraro made a bold decision to move beyond his role as Director of Software Engineering at Switch to form his own company. After decades of providing technical expertise and leadership to other companies, Ron was inspired to pursue fresh dreams. There were many amazing new experiences to discover and magical new worlds to create. Many of Ron’s ideas went beyond software and were far more creative and fantastic in nature. Ron’s wife, Jai, supported the decision and sparked even more new ideas to develop.
Why ironetic?
Ron’s connections to iron are as strong as the metal itself. The Italian surname “Ferraro” comes from the Italian word for iron, “ferro.” Ron’s family has had a long history in metalworking going back generations. Ron himself was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, also known as “Steel City.” The name “Ron” is, of course, represented in the word “iron” and this connection can be interpreted in many ways. It could be an introduction: “I, Ron.” It could be the letter “i” in front of Ron’s name as if he were a tech product from a popular megacorp. It could be the music Ron listened to in adolescence, when he was often dubbed a ”metalhead.” Iron is also notoriously reminiscent of an iconic comic book hero whose comics Ron has collected since childhood.
Iron symbolizes strength and reliability as well as powerful, elemental magnetism. These are the traits Ron envisioned his company having. The heart was added to the logo to represent passion. Ron demonstrates this passion in everything: passion for his work, his family and for life itself. His company, ironetic, reflects that same passion as well as strength, tempered for toughness. Ferromagnetism has drawn like-minded, passionate creatives to assemble under the ironetic banner. Working with ironetic has one absolutely necessary requirement: you have to have heart.
